Genometri is a company that develops core design technologies that allows consumers to turn their virtual designs into physical goods. Genometri has developed a whole range of products including GenoPal, GenoForm and Pic2Theme.

Objective

Businesses today is no longer about creating online present, it's about reaching out to different user segments in a viral way. Genometri developed a proprietary Design Canvas co-creation tool that gives user the ability to design their own products. Techsailor is tasked to build up a co-creation portal connecting consumers, content and fulfillment partners based on existing Design Canvas. The result is Jujups.

Solution

A high-growth company like Genometri would also mean dynamic business requirements. With that in mind, Techsailor designed a platform flexible enough to accommodate major changes yet powerful enough to scale. The new Jujups portal is a platform for amatuer users, designers, fulfillment partners as well as big brand such as Hello Kitty, Nanoboy, etc. The different user groups will have differring requirements for the whole portal and this can only be solved by a framework that is robust enough to accommodate different user role and access levels. And that was exactly what we did. Jujups is a portal built on top of the original Design Canvas software. Jujups allows end users can create their own designs, designers can upload art works and suppliers to manage fulfillment and shipping cost. To facilitate integration with other existing brands such as Hello Kitty, Techsailor introduces APIs to fully integrate Jujups with external membership systems and online payment gateways. To further improve the user experience, we implemented AJAX controls together with caching and lowered the load-time by 300% using a combination of server and database optimization. Techsailor works closely with Genometri as both a vendor and a business partner.
